Men in Motion - IHC Mens group

New sessions of the Men In Motion group will start on March 3rd.

What is Men in Motion?

It is a safe space for men to talk with other men about pretty much anything in their life. What we share in the group stays in the group and this allow men to open up easily in a true friendly environment.

The type of people you can find here is men that are really committed with their personal improvement, in other words, men that want to be happy in a more emotional level.

You can be sure that during our talks there is a lot of laughter and important realizations that come through your own words. There is no preaching, no "you should do this or that" and no pressure to share.

For thousands of years in all ancient civilizations men have successfully gathered in groups to talk and share their insights, but this is a practice that we have lost for many reasons, cultural training is one of them. Some men feel "ashamed" or think that talking about deep issues is "girly" or even a  "weakness", that is why I feel the importance to offer again that safe space in a modern context.

My job as facilitator of the group is to listen and ask questions, also I am very committed to do my best in order to take you out of your comfort zone because it is only when we change our mindset that we can expect different results.

If any of this resonates with you or with your partner, please call the clinic to book a space as we only have 6 seats.

Jose Salgado

Born in Mexico City, José has been exposed since his early youth to various mystic traditions, philosophies and spiritual practices.

He started studying Tibetan Buddhism at the age of 15 as well as practicing contemplative meditation at Casa Tibet, Mexico. He later learned the art of Whirling as a Dervish through working with a Sufi Order. His journey then took him to Carlos Castaneda's teachings, more particularly the practice of lucid dreams.

At the age of 20, after studies in accounting, he founded a non-profit organization to promote arts and culture among young people. This became very popular. A few years later a very stressful event in his life triggered a deep depression which lasted for about 2 years. Seeking ways to heal from this depression he followed a former teacher's recommendation to read Eckart Tolle's teachings. He read his book "The Power of Now" about the nature of thoughts, pain in the body and the unbalanced mind. This enabled him to recover fully and allowed him to continue his work leading his non-profit organization for seven years, and exploring his spiritual growth.

In 2010 he was chosen as one of 12 young Mexican leaders invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to a working breakfast in Mexico City. He also travelled that year to Los Angeles, California to participate in an intense 9-day retreat with Byron Katie, author of "The Work".

José has lived in Ottawa since 2011 where he continues to explore his inner development and ways in which he can contribute to the community.

He has a beautiful wife, Mi, and is very excited about becoming the father of a baby girl this fall.
