Born in Mexico City, José has been exposed since his early youth to various mystic traditions, philosophies and spiritual practices.

At the age of 20, after studies in accounting, he founded a non-profit organization to promote arts and culture among young people. This became very popular. A few years later a very stressful event in his life triggered a deep depression which lasted for about 2 years. Seeking ways to heal from this depression he followed a former teacher's recommendation to read Eckart Tolle's teachings. He read his book "The Power of Now" about the nature of thoughts, pain in the body and the unbalanced mind. This enabled him to recover fully and allowed him to continue his work leading his non-profit organization for seven years, and exploring his spiritual growth.
In 2010 he was chosen as one of 12 young Mexican leaders invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to a working breakfast in Mexico City. He also travelled that year to Los Angeles, California to participate in an intense 9-day retreat with Byron Katie, author of "The Work".
José has lived in Ottawa since 2011 where he continues to explore his inner development and ways in which he can contribute to the community.
