Gratitude - A catalyst for transformation - Laurent Benattar

The  time leading up to the many December festivals can be very hectic for many of us. There are many pressures to host guests and/or attend events, where the opportunity for conflict or being hurt is plenty.

Deep breath…Exhale. Smile.

Do you feel the invitation towards anxiety, self judgement, or guilt when attending parties or family gatherings?

Do family get-togethers usually trigger un-resolved issues between parents or siblings that you wish could be resolved without having to chase down the bottom of a glass of wine (or six)?

Before compromising yourself to receive the approval of your peers or family, stop to ask yourself what is really important? First of all, what are you grateful for?

Gratitude is a great healer and teacher.

I am of the philosophy that we are faced with all of our challenges as learning experiences.
SO the first thing I challenge myself to do  whenever something seemingly unpleasant happens is to say ‘Thank You.’ Thanks for the lesson, what am I Learning? (being grateful for everything else helps too.)

Lets say I just stubbed my toe….. Simple enough..

Am I thanking the (universe/god(dess)/my higher–self)  so that I can experience toe-stubbing on a regular basis because I enjoy it so much? Of course not! My gratitude comes from the recognition that I stubbed my toe for a reason and that there is a lesson to be learned. At that point it is my choice to learn the lesson or to continue to karmically receive reminders to learn that lesson.

The lesson in this case could be as simple as checking in to see how grounded and physically present I am at that moment. Better a toe,  than hitting something with my car or walking in front of one!

When you find yourself at your next social or professional gathering  and your favourite antagonist says the perfect thing to set you off, (or stub your ego) take a deep breath, exhale, smile and say, ’thank you.’ They may not be happy that you decided not to engage and may even prod further for a reaction.

By recognising that they have given you an opportunity to learn about what triggers you , and to grow, how could you be anything but grateful?

By being grateful,  you change the energy from being a victim of life to being a conscious participant.

If you feel  that you need help getting to the point of gratitude, it would be my pleasure to work with you to explore your inner worlds and to help heal the wounds of your past to create a brighter and stronger  tomorrow.
